NASHVILLE EYE
Ever since my brother, James Earl Ray, was arrested in London,England, and charged with shooting Martin Luther King Jr., he has denied it and sought to get a trial.
The print media and poloticians had convicted James before he was even brought back from london in June of '68. The only trial James ever had was the mock trial that was shown on HBO TV in 1993, and that trial was conducted as a real trial would have been.
A former federal prosecutor and a former federal judge, plus James' current attorney, Bill Pepper, were participants in the mock trial. A jury was picked from all across the United States, black and white, male and female. And after only a few hours of deliberation, the jury came back with a verdict of NOT GUILTY.
NOT GUILTY was the verdict after the jury listened to all the evidence that the FBI and the state of Tennessee put on against James, and after hearing the evidence Pepper presented to prove that James is INNOCENT, including James' testimony.
Even to this day, the politicians are still stalling, hoping that James dies before he can receive a jury trial.
It is James' and his attorney's belief that the gun that was found with James' fingerprints on it was not the gun used to shoot King. It was a throw-down gun that led police to James.
The gun has been tested twice by the FBI, and they can't match the bullet with the gun. However, new techology may be able to determine if the bullet that killed King, came from the gun that James bought.
But the poloticians are stalling, hoping that James will die before the gun can be tested, at which point the issue would become moot.
Lets look at the evidence , plus what the print media has been writing.
Right after the hearing in a Memphis courtroom, a few months ago about whether the gun should be tested - the hearing at which King's widow and one of his sons testified that James should have a trial - there were three opposite stories in different newspapers.
First, the Alston, Illinois TELEGRAPH published a story claiming that James robbed a bank there in July of 1967 and used the money to finance the killing of Martin Luther King,Jr.
Then, a story appeared in the St.Louis POST-DISPATCH, stating that James was paid by two racists,- both of whom have long been dead - to kill King. James was supposed to have received $100,000 for the killing.
And then, The WASHINGTON POST had a story saying that James was a wheeler-dealer while confined to the Missouri State Prison, and he had sent family members thousands of dollars. The money , the story continued, was given back to Ray after he escaped from prison.
Readers probaly are acquainted with the recent story that qouted state prosecutors as saying that if James is granted a trial, they probaly would have to drop charges against him because the case is too old. That is a cop-out.
Prosecutors know they have the wrong man in prison for killing King. Furthermore, prosecutors continue to try war criminals whose crimes took place back in the 1940's. In addition, a couple of years ago a man was convicted of killing civil rights leader Medgar Evers in 1963.
No doubt, the U.S. Justice Department doesn't want the truth to come out: that is why the files on Martin luther King have been sealed for 50 years.
The only way the truth can ever come out is if James is granted a trial. Otherwise, the politicians and the Justice Department has won, and the American public will never know who murdered Martin Luther King, Jr.
For those who believe the FBI's propoganda, take a close look at the FBI's own assassignations. I'm refering to the burning of all those men, women and children in Waco,Texas, and the shooting of Randy Weaver's wife in the head and his son in the back.
I hope the American public will demand a trial for James Earl Ray. and will also demand that the people behind the assassignation be brought to justice.
If James was living in another country, the U.S. government would be hollering about human rights violations. So, I say to you politicians, practice what you preach!
