IMPORTANT DATES IN THE LIFE OF
JAMES EARL RAY:
 
APRIL 23,1967 - James EarL Ray Escaped from a
maximum security prison in Jefferson City, Missouri.
 
APRIL 4,1968 - The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was
shot once at 6:01 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee
and pronounced dead at the St. Joseph's hospital.
 
JUNE 8,1968 - an immigration officer at Heathrow Airport
in London, England detained a man claiming to be
Ramon George Sneyd.
Questioned by Scotland Yard Detective Sgt. Philip Birch,
he found a loaded .38 caliber revolver in his pocket.
Finger prints confirmed that Sneyd was Eric Starvo Galt
a fugitive who was in fact James Earl Ray.
* Those who would argue that a conspiracy to kill Dr. King
never existed and that James Earl Ray was the lone
assassin ... would have you believe that by sheer coincidence
James chose the name Eric Starvo Galt to use as his alias.
The real Eric Galt was a Canadian operative for
US Army intelligence with Top Secret security clearance.
 
JUNE 1977 - James Earl Ray escaped from Brushy Mountain prison
 
APRIL 23,1998 - James Earl Ray died ... 31 years to the day
that he escaped from prison in Jefferson City.
 
MARCH 1997 - Dexter King visits James Earl Ray at the
Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility - a maximum security
prison in Nashville, Tennessee.
 
MAY 28, 1998 - a memorial service was held at the
Metropolitan Interdenominational Church in
Nashville, Tennessee. The eulogy was delivered by
William F. Pepper - the attorney and close friend of
James Earl Ray. The Homily was by
The Reverend James M. Lawson, Jr. - Pastor of the
Holman United Methodist Church.
